Qualifying Standards

The Canadian Powerlifting Union (CANPL) qualifying standards set the total a lifter must achieve to enter National and Regional championships. The 2027 standards take effect on 1 January 2027 and cover Classic and Equipped powerlifting, full power and bench press only, for Women and Men across Open, Sub-Junior, Junior and Masters 1 to 4 divisions. Totals must be achieved at a CANPL-sanctioned meet during the qualifying period, which closes on 16 November 2026. Use the lookup below to find your qualifying total, or view the full tables for National, Western/Central and Eastern championships.

How qualifying works

A lifter qualifies by meeting or exceeding the standard for their weight class, age division and equipment category at a sanctioned CANPL competition within the qualifying period. Standards differ between National and Regional championships, and between Classic and Equipped lifting.

Qualifying period for 2027

Totals for the 2027 National Championships must be achieved before 31 December 2026.
